In October 2009 the Zumbotel group and the Fraunhofer Institute established a new OLED lighting company called LEDON OLED lighting to develop and manufacture OLED lighting modules. Today Zumbotel announced it is acquiring its partner shares in the company and renaming it Tridonic Dresden.
LEDON's products were already marketed under the Tridonic brand (which is Zumbotel group's lighting components business). Managing directors Jörg Amelung and Patrik Danz will continue to head the company which currently employs 11 people.
Tridonic Dresden's key task is to take the development of OLED light sources through to the stage of OLED modules for use in professional applications. They are currently using panels from Osram, Fraunhofer's COMEDD and LG Chem. The company's LUREON REP product series feature high efficiency (50 lm/W) and high light output (100 lm).
