Innovation Network Corporation of Japan (INCJ), Japan Display (JDI), Sony, and Panasonic have announced that the establishment of JOLED, which integrates Sony and Panasonic's R&D functions for OLED display panels, has begun operations as of January 5, 2015.
Roughly 260 employees are currently employed at the operation, in which INCJ holds a 75% stake followed by JDI at 15%, and Sony and Panasonic each at 5%.
A report from Tech News, which cited media sources from Japan, said the company will aim at 10- to 20-inch OLED panels, with applications primarily for tablets and notebooks.
The company is expected to enter trial production as of the second half of 2016 and later begin mass production in the second half of 2017.
